As you would expect the engine for my B is based on a trusty Rover V8.

The first V8 I acquired was from a TR7 that was having a bigger lump put in. It was an ordinary 3.5 originally from an SD1. I stripped and cleaned it all and then stored it in my loft!

Later on I discovered RPi Engineering and after scouring their site over a number of months I bought a brand new 3.9 short engine from them at a bargain price. It is my intention to strip the short engine, grind away some of the poor cast finishing in the valley area then rebuild. The rebuild will hopefully include:

  • Bottom End Balance
  • Combustion Chamber matching
  • Main Bearing Studs
  • Cross Bolted Mains (Interim Block from Mid 90's but not drilled)
  • Duplex chain and maybe vernier cam wheel

The other aspects of the spec will be as follows:

  • 3.9 litre
  • Peter Burgess Ecotune Heads
  • Mallory Unilite Distributor
  • Craig Davies Electric Water Pump
  • Fuel Injection - Lucas Hotwire with lowered plenum to fit under a standard bonnet.
